Only those who have received an invitation from the Clerk or Clerk's Assistant may book for the Presentation Ceremony. Booking can only be completed using the link in the invitation email.

The Annual Spectacle Makers' Presentation Ceremony is a dedicated evening for award winners, new Freemen, new Liverymen and Journeymen, who will have the chance to learn more about their Livery and meet other members.

The evening will take place at Barber Surgeons' Hall and guests will hear from the Master Liz Shilling, the Clerk and other speakers about the history of the Company, its relationship with the wider Livery and its relevance today in the modern optical community. New Freemen will have the opportunity to make their Freedom Declaration again in the presence of fellow Spectacle Makers, old and new, and receive a personal welcome from the Master. There will also be a prize giving portion of the evening to celebrate the achievements of people in the early stages of their career who have received support from the Company or the Spectacle Makers' Charity.

Please arrive at Barber Surgeons' Hall by 5.30pm for a prompt start to the ceremony. The formal ceremony will be followed by drinks and nibbles and the chance to chat and catch up, which is due to finish at 7.45pm.

When completing the booking form please ensure that the dietary and access requirements for you and your guests are as accurate as possible. Due to a limited capacity at the hall, if you are permitted to invite a guest/s this will be limited to two for now. If you wish to invite more than two guest please contact Jenny directly (administrator@spectaclemakers.com). Booking will close on 29 August 2024.

New Liverymen will receive separate arrival instructions, so please look out for those from the Clerk.

The dress code is business wear. There will be an official photographer to capture the occasion and we ask that no one takes personal photos during the ceremony.

Cancellation and refund Policy

You can cancel or amend your booking and receive a refund any time up until 3 weeks before the event by visiting the 'my events' page on your profile. If you need to change or cancel your booking within three weeks of the event will not receive a refund and should contact the office directly about any last minute changes.
